My name is Llew Tudur, a wood carver from Wales. Since 1998, I have based my art on the  Welsh tradition of lovespoon making, but with a modern twist.

My style of lovespoons is inspired by the art of floriogaphry; the secret language of flowers. By integrating this Victorian trend into my lovespoons I am able to complement historic symbolic messaging that is traditionally associated with Welsh lovespoons which were historically given to lovers to signify promises of family, security, and love.

I carve all my lovespoons by hand from lime timber using traditional tools. The properties of this timber give me the freedom to work with intricate designs and fine details in order to bring out the realism of the flowers. The natural texture of the wood complements the botanical nature of the lovespoon.

I aim to preserve the tradition by presenting everlasting floral messages of love. In order for the tradition to survive it must evolve.
